Starr E. Pierce, 58, of Marysville, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, early Monday morning, January 5, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.
One of three children, Starr was born September 8, 1967, to LeRoy "Lee" C. and Shanna R. (Davenport) Kelley. After high school graduation, she furthered her education at Capital University Law School, earning her Associate's degree as a Paralegal. While Starr began working for the law offices of Swedlow, Butler, Lewis & Dye, her loving heart took her to work for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, before becoming a SACC Team Leader at Creekview Elementary. Starr was also heavily involved in the local child assault prevention programs, including radKIDS, that help teach children how to stay safe, defend themselves, and be resourceful - she purely loved to be there for children and help them grow to their fullest, teaching them to be the best they can be. Upon leaving SACC, Starr took her passion to help others to Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine's Dublin campus, where she became a beloved facilitator for first- and second-year students.
A loving, devoted wife, mom, and grandma, Starr was the family "schemer." She loved to plan for the holidays, especially their white elephant Christmas. The backbone of her family, she never missed a dance competition or show choir event, and she had the biggest, most beautiful smile when she recently learned her daughter was accepted into her master's program at the Ohio State University – to say she was proud of her children would be an understatement. Starr also enjoyed the arts. She loved to take paint classes at Crooked Door Studio, and enjoyed watching Broadway plays, especially West Side Story. Her husband, Michael, surprised her with a trip to see Xanadu on Broadway in New York for her 40th birthday – one of the most memorable moments they shared. Michael also made sure she had her season tickets to La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, a place she loved to frequent.
Starr was always on the go, from the moment her chipper-self woke in the morning, until she fell asleep at night. She even found time to be an aerobics instructor during all her other activities. She held lasting friendships, and looked forward to hanging out with her friends where her competitive side came out while playing the card game Golf and dominoes. Quite simply, Starr was a remarkable person. She had many facets to her beautiful personality, each uniquely her. Her long battle with cancer never diminished her spirit, and she had so much love in her heart to give that went beyond her family, who truly was the most precious gift to her. Even though she is no longer with them, her legacy will continue to live on throughout all the lives she touched and loved during her amazing life.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael; beloved children Spencer (Cassie) Pierce and Emily Pierce; adored grandchildren Caiden, Colton, and Carter; her loving mother, Shanna; siblings Glen (Jana) Kelley and Dawn (Jed) Arrington; her closest friend, Gretchen Fogle, with whom she was inseparable; as well as several extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Starr's life will be announced and held at a later date. Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve Starr's family, and condolences and stories may be expressed to them at www.IngramFuneralService.com.
