Starr A. Porter, aged 51, of Charlston, NY, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Cooperstown, NY at the Bassett Hospital with her family by her side, after fighting a brief battle with cancer.
Born on September 23, 1973, in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Barbara (Bates) Thompson.
Starr worked for the Leader Herald and drove taxicab before becoming disabled.
She is survived by her stepparents, Ronald and Elizabeth Thompson; daughter, Karia Chamberlain; son, Robert Lightcap Jr.; brother, Ronald Thompson Jr.; sister, Melanie Lee Sarr; and four aunts.
In addition to her mother, Starr is predeceased by her grandparents, Russell and Charity Bates, uncle, John Bates, aunts, Sharon Paul, Linda Gunnison, Mary Jackson.
Starr will be fondly remembered for her vibrant spirit and compassionate heart.
A prayer service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, NY, where all are welcome to attend.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY.
