Stella Ciborowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Plaza Funeral Home - Jersey City on Jan. 3, 2026.
Stella M. Ciborowski (nee Zysk) of Jersey City, NJ was called to eternal rest on Friday, January 2nd, 2026 after a beautiful life at 100 years old.

Born on Novemeber 21, 1925 to proud Polish immigrant parents Stanley Zysk and Agnes Padykula in Jersey City, Stella lived a life filled with love, resilience, and community. Stella was educated at St. Anthony's High School, where the foundation of her lifelong faith and values was established.

Stella married the love of her life, Edward Ciborowski, on June 14, 1952 at St. Anthony's Church, beginning a union that lasted over 50 beautiful years. Together, they made their home on 7th Street in Downtown Jersey City, raising two wonderful children, Dorothy and Edward. A skilled seamstress by trade, Stella also found joy on the dance floor, and later in life, helped raise several of her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as Babci.

At St. Joseph's Residence, in her later years, she made new friends and continued to enjoy Mass, bingo, and community celebrations. Through a century of change, her unwavering spirit, warmth, and dedication to family and faith have left an indelible mark on all who know and love her.

Stella's journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left an aching void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. Stella's legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her son Edward, and her four siblings Harriet, Helen, Florence, and Chester.

She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Zarsky (Stephen) and daughter-in-law Donna Goldbloom. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Brandon (Chrissie), Lauren (Cameron), Adam, Daniel, and great grandchild Parker.

With gratitude and admiration, we celebrate Stella's 100 years of life, a true daughter of Jersey City.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Visitation at the funeral home on Monday, 1/5, from 6:00 - 9:00PM. A gathering of family & friends will take place on Tuesday, 1/6, at the funeral home at 10:00AM. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Polish RC Church at 11:00AM. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
