born October 17, 1956, in Providence, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 16, 2025. A woman of remarkable strength and unwavering dedication, her career began in the telecommunications sector, where she initially served as an operator and sales representative for New England Telephone Company, now Verizon, showcasing her versatility and commitment. Later, she carved a path as a notable realtor, having spent many recent years working with Lila Delman and formerly with her brother, Joseph, at Executive Realty as its top producer.

Stella was proud of the impact she made within her family, especially through working side-by-side with her daughter, Ashley, who now carries on her work in real estate. Her devotion to clients and work ethic were unparalleled, which endeared her to many in her community.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Stella had a zest for life that saw her often entertaining others and planning experiences that highlighted her love for travel and spontaneity. Whether it was gathering friends and family for her infamous penne alla vodka or venturing to new destinations, she brought immense joy and amusement to those around her, no matter the setting.

Stella is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Fitzsimmons, with whom she shared 44 cherished years of marriage. Her legacy continues through her children: Ashley Fitzsimmons Hawkins and her husband, Brandon, of Charlestown, and Christopher Fitzsimmons and his fiancée, Julia Fitzgerald, of Coventry. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph G. Formicola, Jr., of Miami Beach, FL and Narragansett, as well as her many beloved nieces and nephews. Completing her family is the highly anticipated birth of her first grandchild, Wyatt David Hawkins, to whom she was looking forward to being the best ‘Mimi.’ She also leaves behind her adored dog, Brady. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph G., Sr. and Eva (Vespia) Formicola, and her brother, William D. "Bill" Formicola. The memory of Stella will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to a well-lived life, filled with love, laughter, hard work, and adventure.
