Sr. Stella Weber, 101, died December 22, 2025, at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse in Great Bend. She was born July 15, 1924, in Dubuque, Kansas, the daughter of Pete and Mary Margaret (Feltes) Weber and named Mercedes. She entered the Dominican Sisters community in 1947 and had her First Profession in 1950. This year marks her 75th year of religious profession.

Sr. Stella taught grades 3rd through 8th in Garden Plain, Wichita, Garden City, Great Bend, and St. Leo, Kansas, as well as Pueblo, Colorado. She worked as an Administrator of Medical Records at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned, Kansas, and in Mesa, Arizona, where she was also Director of the Mesa Project.

She lived in a Retirement Villa in Mesa and developed another neighborhood ministry where she watched after her neighbors' homes, remembered birthdays and anniversaries, shared her home-grown tomatoes. She saw herself ministering by living a "quiet and unassuming life" reaching out and touching them with the fruits of contemplation and praying that God's love and compassion would be more evident.

After returning to the Motherhouse in Great Bend, she worked as a Library Assistant in the Motherhouse Library, volunteered in the Cancer Clinic, and provided help in various community services.

In her final instructions, she wrote "I would like my Wake and Funeral to be a cheerful celebration… no sadness or mourning at my departure but DO miss me for a little while. Celebrate with Wine and Cheese!" The motherhouse sisters will miss her as she visited the bulletin board, had afternoon coffee in the dining room, and stopped by to say hello in the various offices.

Sr. Stella was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Bernard, LaVerne, and Florentine. She is survived by sister Margaret (Marge) (Mrs. Richard Mayer), many loving nieces and nephews, and her Dominican Sisters of Peace.

A Wake Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 29th; and the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 30th. Both will be held at the Sisters' Convent. Burial will be in the Sisters' Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials in honor of Sr. Stella may be sent to Dominican Sisters of Peace, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, OH 43219-2098.
