Obituary of Stephanie "Caroll" Daggett
Stephanie "Caroll" Welsh Daggett, 78, of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born March 24, 1945, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Frances Bennett Welsh and Steve Sowell Welsh. As a child and young adult, she attended Park Road Baptist Church with her family.
Caroll is survived by her loving children; son Raymond "Erl" Campbell (Kari) of Belmont, N.C. along with their children, Chris (Rachel), Lauren (Brenden) and Ryan; Her daughter Cathy Patterson of Sanford, N.C. along with her children, Trever (Heidi), Makayla (Jonathan) and Joshua and great-granddaughter, Eleanor; Her sisters Kay Allen (Jud) and Sandy Newnan (Bill), & many more loving family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Caroll was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Sowell Welsh, Jr., and her husband, Ben Daggett.
Caroll was born and raised in Charlotte, N.C. where she attended Myers Park High School. She later graduated from Furman University. She enjoyed employment with the US Postal Service, Charlotte Police Department, and Gwynn Valley Camp for Boys and Girls as well as owning her own Dog Grooming business.
She was an avid reader and a lover of animals and wildlife. She enjoyed arts and crafts and hiking mountain trails in western NC. with her husband, Ben. She found joy in simplicity and practicality, nature and making memories with family and friends. Her quiet demeanor often brought surprise laughter to others with her sense of humor. She was dedicated to living her life with a spirit of kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity.
Following Caroll's wishes, the family will have a private time of gathering, to share memories and to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital, VIA Hospice.
