Stephanie Spore Davis, age 65, of
Lakeland, Tennessee passed away peacefully June 19, 2023 after a two and a half year battle with cancer.
Stephanie was born in
Albuquerque, New Mexico September 28, 1957 to Richard Spore Jr. and Melba Spore. She spent most of her formative childhood years in Ripley, TN where she enjoyed an idyllic small town childhood. She was an excellent student and athlete. She played basketball, ran track, cheered, and worked at a radio station. She moved to Memphis her senior year of high school and later graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor's' degree in English.
While attending the University of Memphis, Stephanie met the love of her life Robert "Bob" Davis. Her home had been burglarized on Christmas day, and he was the policeman who responded to the call. He started dropping by regularly to check on her, give her lectures on safety, and paid extra attention to her neighborhood when he was on patrol. She had captured his heart and over time,he captured hers too. They went on to enjoy a long happy marriage of 37 years full of memories, laughter, travel, and spiritual growth.
Stephanie enjoyed her work in the insurance industry as an Executive Account Manager in the Transportation Department at Lipscomb & Pitts Insurance for 28 years. She was considered a mentor by many and loved by her clients and co-workers. She loved the friends she made throughout her career like family. Their support, acts of kindness, words of encouragement, cards, phone calls, prayers, and hospital visits during her illness touched her deeply and showed how much Stephanie was loved. The family would like to thank Lipscomb and Pitts Insurance, a Higginbotham Partner for their support and encouragement during her illness.
Stephanie loved genealogy, reading, watching movies, and dining with her friends. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and loyal sister. She was a steadfast daughter to her mother who has resided in a nursing home for many years. She loved nothing more than spending quality time with her husband and daughter Rebekah. She was able to help plan and attend Rebekah and William Cooley's wedding after her successful bone marrow transplant in 2022. She was overjoyed for the Cooley's to become part of her family. The love that she had for her family surpassed any challenge she faced throughout her illness.
Stephanie faced her illness with bravery, humor, and acceptance. Her faith grounded her and allowed her to face each day with a positive attitude. The Davis family would like to thank the prayer warriors from Calvary Church of the Nazarene and Bellevue Baptist Church, who provided them with strength as well as Stephanie's favorite treat, fudge, that was so good, Stephanie said it was "magic". Those prayers helped her to carry on when times were difficult. The Davis family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses who referred to Stephanie as their "favorite patient" and loved her selflessly through the biggest battles of her life. The Davis' are so grateful that Stephanie was surrounded by individuals who loved her endlessly.
In addition to her husband, Robert Davis (Bob), daughter, Rebekah Davis Cooley, and Rebekah's husband, William Cooley, she is survived by her brother Richard Spore and his wife, Trish Spore, niece Caroline Spore and her husband Trip Conrad, her mother Melba Spore, her cousin Jean Moore, her uncle Ronald Cullum, his wife Diane Cullum, and their family.
