Ellerslie, MD- Stephanie Raye (Bruck) Durst, 54, of Ellerslie, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.

Born July 21, 1971, in Cumberland, MD, Stephanie was the daughter of Sheila R. (Runner) Bruck and the late Billy B. Bruck.

Stephanie graduated from Allegany High School Class of 1989, graduated from Allegany Community College in 1997 as a Certified OT Assistant, and received her Master's Degree from Penn State Mont Alto in Occupational Therapy. She worked at several different settings before finding her passion working with at-risk kids at Potomac Therapy until February 2024 when the cancer spread to her brain. She worked for 3 years after her diagnosis of Triple Negative breast cancer, even while being extremely sick from the chemo treatments because she loved her patients so much.

Stephanie attended Covenant Life Church, she was a faithful witness to the power and strength that came from her relationship with Jesus Christ. She made sure that her life was a testimony by sharing her journey the past 4 years.

Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, William Durst; her children: Tatum (Wes); Logan (Page); and Hunter; her stepson: Justin (Rachel); her grandchildren, who brought great joy to her life: Mason, Hazley, Asher, and Isla; and her siblings: Scott (April) and Stacy (Kevin). She is also survived by her parents-in-law: William & Donna Durst; her nieces and nephews: Jared Lamp, Courtney Yachere, Kaitlin Lowery, Lucas Bruck, Nathan Lamp, and Jessica Kamp; and several great nieces and nephews.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the Schwab Family Cancer Center, Dr. Mavromatis, Liz Simpson, CRNP, Dr. Shombert and all of the amazing RN's who always made sure Stephanie had her 2 room temperature ginger ales with a straw, 2 warm blankets, and an extra pillow for her treatment. Also, thank you to the Palliative Care Team, Linda Krause, CRNP, and Dr. Soriano. Your love and compassion for Stephanie made her last week of life here on earth so much more bearable.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in her name to the Schwab Family Cancer Center, 12500 Willowbrook RD, SE, Cumberland, MD 21502, to assist those who are still fighting their fight.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Covenant Life Church, 15300 McMullen Highway, SW, Cumberland, MD 21502 on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Kevin Lamp officiating. It is open to the public, but seating is limited. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

2 Timothy 4:7- I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.
