Stephanie Anne Kerr Lundsgaard
Born January 11, 1933
Died November 29, 2025
A lifelong Minnesotan, Stephanie lived a life full of family and friends wherever she went.
Stephanie was born at Eitel Hospital, grew up in Lowry Hill and attended Douglas Elementary. She later attended Northrop School and Kemper Hall, before graduation from St. Mary's Hall in 1950. She attended the Eversholme International School in Florence, Italy and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Art History in 1955.
Stephanie met the love of her life, Warren Lundsgaard, through U of M friends. They were married at St. Mark's Cathedral in July 1955. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Kenwood, and then moved to Golden Valley, where they raised their four children. Their Tyrol Hills neighborhood was filled with fun and the front yard was always the center of activity with kickball, yard games and after-dark flashlight tag.
Stephanie loved to travel. The bug started when she was in college and studied in Florence, Italy. Stephanie and Warren continued that love of Italy with many trips back to Florence, inviting family and friends to accompany them. Paris and London were also favorites.
Later in life, Stephanie and Warren spent their winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, taking walks along the Gulf of Mexico, watching sunsets from their porch, and developing a community of friends. The cabin in Deerwood, Minnesota was the other place where Stephanie and Warren found themselves regularly surrounded by friends and family.
Stephanie and Warren moved to Folkestone in Wayzata in 2015, and found another friendly community. The Folkestone staff have been tremendously supportive of Stephanie these past few months.
Stephanie and Warren enjoyed a full life together for sixty-three years prior to his death in January, 2018. She is also preceded in death by her father, Wilson Joseph Kerr, her mother, Anna Banks Kerr, and her brother, Hedley Kerr, as well as her daughter-in-law, Barbara Howard Lundsgaard. Stephanie is survived by her children, Kristine Newcomer of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Mette Anne Lundsgaard of Austin, Texas, Sarah Simson (Jay) of Naples, Florida and Wilson Lundsgaard of Minneapolis. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alison, Sam (Kristen) and Michael Newcomer, Van and Hans Lundsgaard, and her great-grandchildren Maxwell and Benjamin Newcomer.
We thank the Reverend Siri Hauge of St. Mark's Cathedral for her friendship and spiritual guidance. A private family service will be held in the upcoming months.
Memorial donations may be made to either St. Mark's Cathedral in Minneapolis or Shattuck/St. Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota.
