It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephanie Sturgill, who left this world on November 25, 2025, in Troy, Ohio, at the age of 60. Born on November 18, 1965, in Dayton, Ohio, Stephanie was a beacon of light, loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Stephanie's journey through life was marked by her unwavering compassion and sweetness. She took great pride in her career, having worked steadfastly at Reynolds and Reynolds and later showcasing her culinary talents as a chef at The Winery at Versailles. She was a graduate of Twin Valley North High School and furthered her education at Sinclair Community College, embodying a spirit of lifelong learning that inspired those around her.
In her personal life, Stephanie found immense joy in her family. She is survived by her beloved children, Derrick Sturgill (Tina), Brian Sturgill, and Rachael Ferguson (Jon), who were honored to call her mom. Her heart swelled with love for her grandchildren—Katie, Trey, Morgan, Jamie, Adam, Wyatt, Isabella, Oaklyn, Joey, and Isla—who brought her endless happiness and cherished memories. The bond she shared with each of them illuminated her life, leaving an imprint of love that will guide them through their own journeys.
Stephanie was a true artist at heart. She enjoyed traveling to beautiful destinations like Marblehead and the Smoky Mountains, which nourished her spirit and brought her inner peace. Her passion for cooking was evident in every delicious meal she prepared, while her love for reading, painting, and playing the piano revealed her multifaceted creativity. She embraced life's simple pleasures with a happy, peaceful, and content demeanor that resonated deeply with those around her.
Stephanie is also survived by her dear brother-in-law, Lee Sturgill (Lori), sister-in-law, Lori Alejandro (Alain), and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends whose lives she touched profoundly.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Kermit and Freda Ledford; her devoted husband, Joe Sturgill; her brother, Wayne "Rudy" Ledford; and her mother-in-law, Louise Sturgill. Their memories will forever inhabit the spaces Stephanie once brightened with her presence.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Stephanie, we remember her not just for the roles she played, but for the gentle spirit she was—a sweet and compassionate soul whose legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all she cherished. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. To share a memory of Stephanie or to leave her family a special message, please sign the online guestbook provided.
