Stephen Everett Adams

Stephen Everett Adams, 80, of Berkeley Township, passed away on January 25, 2026 after a short illness.

Stephen was born in the Bronx, NY to Marie and Everett Adams on May 30, 1945. He was raised in the Skyline Lakes section of Ringwood, NJ and was a 1963 graduate of Lakeland Regional High School. After graduation, he joined the US Army and served as a Sp-5 Ordnance Supply Specialist in Vaihinghen and Boeblingen, Germany. He worked at ITT Federal Electric at both their Paramus, NJ and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada locations. He was employed as a campus police officer, attaining the rank of Lieutenant at William Paterson University during which time he earned a BS degree in Criminal Justice Administration, graduating in 1980 magna cum laude. He retired in 1997, and returned to work as a public safety officer at Bergen Community College where he retired in 2011.

He has resided in Ringwood, Saddle Brook, Rochelle Park, Fair Lawn and Berkeley Township, NJ.

Stephen is preceded in death by his mother Marie (Lozito) Adams in 1983, father Everett J. Adams in 2012, and grandparents Dahlia and Rocco Lozito and Everett and Margaret (Smith) Adams, as well as his longtime partner Barbara Berkemeyer in 2021.

Stephen is survived by his daughter Keri Adams and her husband Stefan Hayden, and grandchildren Rebecca and Gabriel Hayden. His is also survived by his sister Diane Smith as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Burial at George Washington Memorial Park will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
