Stephen A. Ashby passed away September 18th, 2023 at the age of 65.
Steve was a good-hearted, hard-working, devoted man who always had a smile on his face. He loved his family, dogs and cars. He always ensured that his daughters were taken care of and was the most loving Pawpaw to his granddaughters.
Steve was born November 14th, 1957 in Pasadena, Tx to father Angus Ashby, Jr. and mother Gertrude Clementine Mathewson Ashby He was a Deer Park High School graduate, class of 1976. Steve grew up Baptist and was a proud Christian man. In 2013, he was confirmed Catholic. He was married to Carol Hotcaveg Ashby for forty years and had three beautiful daughters. Steve made many lifelong friends during his twenty-five-year career as a plant operator for Huntsman Chemical and then retired from AK Contracting in Big Sandy. He was lucky enough to spend his retirement years fulfilling his lifetime dream of restoring classic cars and working his land in Montgomery, Tx with his four-legged fur babies that he loved so dearly. His greatest achievement though, was his three daughters that he was so proud of.
Steve is survived by his brother, Donald Eugene Ashby, and by his three daughters, Shanda Michelle Ashby, Lindsey Renae Ashby, and Megan Lorraine Cereceres, her husband Angel Haram Cereceres, and by his three granddaughters, Madison Taylor Rock, Reagyn Lenae Perryman, and Grace Lynn Rock.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Karen Ashby-Frederick, and grandparents, Angus Ashby Sr., Bertha Magee, Cleaburn Mathewson, and Sadie Mathewson.
Serving as pallbearers are Donnie Ashby, Angel Cereceres, Brad Farris, Brandon Perryman, Cliff Parsons, and David Caylor. Honorary pallbearers are Landon Ashby, Micheal "Buggs" Kirk, David Carwile, Chris Schramek, and Leonard Hotcaveg.
