Jimmy Gordon Youngblood Sr. passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Jimmy was born on February 25, 1944 in Mount Enterprise, Texas to the late Willis and Frances Youngblood. He grew up in New London, Texas where he graduated in 1962. In his high school years, he excelled in football, basketball, baseball and was an all-star athlete and student. He married Carol Ann Ledbetter and eventually moved to Houston, Texas where he worked and went to school at night and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Science and Political Science. Bum Phillips was the coach at U of H at the time and wanted to recruit Jimmy to play for the Cougars. Jimmy was unable to play as he had to provide for his family with 2 children at the time. Jimmy and Carol lived in Houston, Texas for a few years before moving to Porter, Texas with 3 children and eventually had their 4th and favorite child. After several jobs, he began his own insurance agency, Houston Life and Casualty. After HL&C dissolved, he worked at several miscellaneous sales jobs. He stayed in touch regularly with all of his childhood friends which was one of his great joys in life. He enjoyed attending the grandchildren's sports and activities. He especially enjoyed Savannah's softball career from middle school through college, all the while making claim to his influence for her success. He also enjoyed attending many of Alex's performances. He took great pride in all of his children's and grandchildren's many successes, where we are sure he would take credit as well. Jimmy's love language was acts of service which was displayed to many family, friends, and neighbors. He will be thoroughly missed by all. He is survived by his son Jimmy Youngblood, Jr.; three daughters Lisa Wright, Sheri Youngblood and Deneva Zamora; Nephews Terry Higginbotham, Bobby Higginbotham, and Alan Higginbotham; 9 grandchildren Amber, Brandi, Carly, Dillon, Savannah, Kaylan, Hailey, Alex and Sydney; 4 great grandchildren; the prolific Higginbotham children and grandchildren; and his significant other Michele Foster. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirley Mae Youngblood (Higginbotham), nephew Gary Lane Higginbotham, and grandson Sammy Joe Youngblood. Following the service, the family would be honored to have you join them at Cilantro's Mexican Grill located at 12501 Canyon Falls Blvd., Willis, Texas, to share in continued fellowship and memories. A room has been reserved for this time together. Guests will be responsible for their own meals and beverages. Live streaming of the service will be available Saturday August 16, at 3pm. https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/a2508655547847
