Stephen "Mitch" Baker passed away of Leukemia on April 30, 2024, in Elma, Washington. He was born March 13, 1952, to David and Irene (Koch) Baker in Olympia, Washington.
Mitch attended school at St. Michael and graduated from North Thurston High School. He worked for Continental Can Company/Crown Cork and Seal, retiring after 45 years of service. He enjoyed working on the family farm, digging clams, and watching car races since he was a former off-road racer in the deserts of Oregon and enjoyed being part of the dragster community at SIR.
Mitch is survived by his son, Matthew Baker of Olympia; daughters, Tamara Baker of Glade Park, Colorado, and Elizabeth Seering of Yelm, Washington; and six grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the McCleary Community Center, 726 W. Simpson Ave., McCleary, WA 98557.

Mitch was my friend for around 50 years, we shared many clam digs, vw experiences, and good times. Susi and I will miss him greatly, and I offer my condolences to his family who lost him way to soon. Shortly after I moved to Vancouver, he showed up with some libations, and I wrote a note to my supervisor that I would not be in the next day, and we drove to the coast, and spent the night on the beach. I'm sure there was the steady sounds of Pink Floyd during that trip. Later, he was best man at my wedding, as distance didn't prevent us from our friendship.
