Stephen G. Balas, 76 of Avon Lake passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022. He was born September 29, 1945 to parents Stephen and Marie (nee Renick) Balas in Lakewood, OH.
Steve was a West Tech high School graduate and was employed with General Motors, Parma and retired from there after 11 years. As a young man he enjoyed racing cars at Cloverleaf and as he got older, he found enjoyment watching the races in person. He was an avid Browns and Buckeyes fan; enjoyed fishing, traveling after retirement and most of all spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 plus years Nan (nee Mangan); loving children Joanne Balas, Stephen Balas, Christine Anderson (Dan) and Cathleen Balas (Nicholas Gomolka); cherished grandchildren Hannah and Benjamin; brother in-law of Noreen Formica, Tom Mangan, Joanne Wynne and John Mangan; dear brother of the late Mary Louise Liebenguth.

Friends and family may call for a visitation on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Busch Funeral Home 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44012. Mass will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church 32929 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake, OH 44012.
