With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Stephen Thomas Bien, (98) who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 at home in Brooksville, FL.
Born in Long Island, New York to Wojciech and Stella Mazur Bien, he was drafted into the US Army and served during WW2 with occupational forces in Japan.
Later, as a proud US Navy veteran, he loved life on submarines and found his soulmate who shared his passion.
His was a life marked by unwavering faith, purpose and convictions.
He shared his life with his "buddy", Margaret, for 64 years until her death in 2016.
He was known as the "Candyman" delivering 3 Hershey kisses to everyone he met, proclaiming these sweet confections as the father, son and holy spirit.
His favorite phrase was wishing everyone "Merry Christmas", no matter the time of the year, to spread the spirit of peace and goodwill.
He is survived by his children, Thomas, USAF Veteran, (Shelly) San Antonio, TX
Stephanie, US Navy Veteran, Brooksville, FL
and Carol, US Navy Veteran, Albuquerque, NM
Grandchildren: Cory T. Bien San Antonio, TX
Lauren A. Brown (Kyle) Acworth, GA
Great Grandchildren: Cameron Brown and Ensley Brown
We honor his extraordinary life as a submariner for 21 years in the US Navy. who's motto "run silent, run deep" symbolized his life. We salute his service as he goes on Eternal Patrol.
We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers and kindly asked to honor his memory and work fostering canines with donations to K9 Partners For Patriots, Inc of Brooksville, Florida. 352-397-5306.
"Stephen and Margaret will join together forever in their final resting place at the Florida National Cemetery."
Memorial services will be April 17, 2025 at 1000 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. 33513-8914
A celebration of life will follow at noon at the Brooksville residence.
