Steve passed away, with family by his side, on December 18, 2025, at the age of 76, of Westmont, NJ. Beloved husband of the late Miriam "Mimi" (nee Garrity). Loving father of Alfred Bird (Kathy), David Bird, Kelly Bird, and Andrea Bird. Dear brother of the late David Bird and Linda Crossman. Proud grandfather of Jessica Bird, Dana Bird, David Bird, MaryKelly Alloway, Laura Bird, Evelyn Thomas and proud Uncle of Steven Burns (Kelly).

Steve was a member of the Westmont Fire Company No. 1 since 1971, serving as Assistant Chief for many years. He started in the Camden City Fire Department serving through the ranks and retired as Chief Fire Marshal. Steve enjoyed building train sets in his basement, working with his hands, carving birds, camping with his family, boating & fishing. He loved to travel with Mimi to Mexico with friends. Steve will be remembered most for his quick sarcastic wit and getting his point across loudly, but lovingly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Visitation on December 29th from 10 to 11:30 AM at the JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Avenue, Haddon Township, NJ, where his Memorial Service will follow at 11:30 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to Westmont Fire Company No. 1, 120 Haddon Ave., Westmont, NJ 08108.
