Stephen Bobowski
1941-2025
South Jordan - Stephen Albert Bobowski Jr.
Passed: July 31, 2025
West Jordan, Utah
His life's purpose was rooted in love for his family, guided by the simple yet profound belief: "To love one another."
Stephen Albert Bobowski Jr. was born in Rochester, New York, on February 14, 1941, to Anna Schwarm and Stephen Bobowski, who have preceded him in death. He was one of four siblings: his sister, Joyce Fleming, brother Richard Bobowski, and brother-in-law William Moffet have preceded him in death. His sister, Arlene Moffet, and sister-in-law, Barbara Bobowski, will mourn his passing.
He attended private Catholic school when young, and in high school, attended a trade school where he was able to pursue his dream of working on aircraft. After finishing school, he moved to California, where he obtained an Airframe and Powerplant license and worked as an aircraft mechanic. He was drafted into the Army at the beginning of the Vietnam War, and due to his experience, was sent to the base at the Panama Canal to help maintain the aircraft there.
While there, he met the love of his life, Yenia Enith Vasquez. After he finished his service in the military, they were married April 16, 1966, in Rochester, New York. They immediately moved across the country to live in San Francisco, California, where all five of their children were born. He became a journeyman machinist while living in California. They loved traveling throughout the West during their marriage.
Stephen and Yenia joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in San Francisco, California. He gained a testimony of this truthfulness and never wavered from his belief. He served in various callings in the Church throughout his life. Stephen and Yenia were sealed in the Oakland Temple on August 26, 1972, to each other and their children.
He wanted to continue to pursue his education and graduated with honors from the College of San Mateo. He had additional certifications and training in Industrial Management and Electronics Technology. In 1980, he moved with his whole family to West Jordan, Utah, to attend Brigham Young University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer Manufacturing Engineering. Stephen had a passion for math, computers and enjoyed teaching and tutoring math throughout his life.
While attending school, he continued doing manufacturing work and helped with the production of the first artificial heart. He worked on many exciting projects and products and was able to work with a company to help with the creation of special foams for wheelchair seats, molded wheelchairs and bikes, Intelligel beds, tongue tape, padding for Nike and Jan Sports backpacks, as well as many toys for Jakks Pacific.
After retirement, he enjoyed many years working as a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple. His favorite thing to do was to help people. Stephen spent many years picking up food from businesses and delivering it to seniors, food banks, and neighbors. He also spent many years putting together computers for children who would not otherwise be able to afford one. He had a passion for working on computers. One of his lifelong dreams was to build and have an extensive library. He was successful at both.
One of his favorite things was volunteering at the South Jordan Senior Center. He helped other seniors fix their computers and teach them how to use them. He continued doing this right up until the time he was unable to go anymore. Every day when he came home from the senior center, he would walk around the neighborhood bringing meals and food to his neighbors.
Another love was sharing with people about Napoleon Hill and how to find the secrets to success, as well as sharing his favorite Gospel principle to love one another. He would always have packets of quotes, affirmations, and inspiration to share with everyone he met. He would give out CDs and USB drives that contained these gems on how to live your best life. He enjoyed thrift store shopping and was always getting his children and grandchildren gifts. Stephen was also the grandpa who always had a sucker or candy to share with everyone.
He is survived by the love of his life, Yenia, and his six children, whom he was very proud of: Richard (Jennifer) Bobowski, Yenia Arlene (Rudy) Taylor, Alma (David) Lake, Stephen II (Angela) Bobowski, and Larissa Bobowski, Juan (Emily) Vasquez. He is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly: Nikolas, Julian, Lexie, Justyn (Stephnie), Whitney (Zac), Holly (Shay), Sarah (Scott), Hannah, Harlow, Hazel, Halina, Hyrum, Joshua, Stephen III (Elise), Rebecka, Sarah, Emma, Faith (Cooper), Ryan, Andrew, Marissa, and Joshua. He is also survived by his five sweet great-grandchildren: Kingston, Arden, Reise, Octavia, and Eleanor.
Dad was always willing to help his children and grandchildren. He would often be found working on our vehicles, taking us to school, and cheering us on in the things that we pursued. Dad would always be willing to listen and share his wisdom. He knew how to have fun and would make us laugh with his silly antics. We will miss the thrift store shopping, ice cream runs, surprise gifts, and the books. We will especially miss all the times filled with laughter. We love you, Grandpa!
