Stephen Boyson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 3, 2025.
Stephen Paul Boyson, 67, formally of Melrose and South Dennis, passed away on December 29, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with many health issues. Even in more recent years, confined to a wheel chair, he was able to work miracles for others, which he truly enjoyed doing.
He loved the Town of Dennis, especially the Fire and Police Departments and the town workers, who were always there when he needed them. Stephen was also a proud Mason at the Mt. Horeb Masonic Lodge in Dennis, following in his father's footsteps who was an active Mason in Melrose.
Stephen attended Maine Maritime Academy as an engineer and went on to work for Stone & Webster Engineering in Boston where he was a field engineer and travelled the world during his career.
After many years he decided to come home. It was on a visit to his friend's home on the Cape where he met his future wife, Karen, and decided to make the Cape his home. He started his one-man electrical company and never looked back. In the course of his career, he had 17 electricians on his crew, serving all of Cape Cod. His clients ranged from the rich and famous to those less fortunate. He made it a priority to provide assistance to those in need of it most.
After his endeavors in the electrical business, Stephen started his own building company. Unfortunately, shortly after, he was involved in a serious construction accident, which injured his leg and progressed into further health issues. Despite the physical challenges he faced, Stephen persevered in his endeavors. He spent four years in rehab and was able to come home and spend his last years with his beloved Scottish terrier Archie.
He was an avid ham operator and loved talking people from all over the world. Through his love of ham radio, he met wonderful friends in Bermuda and made numerous trips there, playing golf with his buddies.
Stephen was involved in many local town activities and committees. Board of Registrars 2015-2021, Advisory Committee on Disabilities 2024, The Charles E. Chamberlain Jr. Parkway Committee 2009-2012, Town Offices Building Committee 2007-2020, Police Station Design Building Committee 2006-2009, Appeals Board 1989-1998, Town Meeting Teller 1989-1995, Republican Town Committee 1992-2024, Fire Chief Screening Committee 1992, Cable Advisory Committee 1993-1998, Economic Development Committee 1994-1997, Government Information Access Committee 2006-2010.
Stephen is survived by his wife Karen, a marriage that spanned over 37 years, his sister Kimberly of Melrose, his brother Scott (Patty) of Milton, VT., nieces and nephews Crystal and Cody Boyson, and Nicholas and Danielle Bertazzoni. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Archie, who was his biggest protector, and his parrot Piper, who would converse with him daily.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, from 11am-2pm, at Mt. Horeb Masonic Lodge, Old Bass River Rd., South Dennis. A Masonic Service will take place at 2pm.
Shuttle service will be available from the Dennis Town Hall (flag pole) to Mt. Horeb Lodge
In lieu of flowers and in Steve's memory donations can be made to the Mt. Horeb Lodge Building Fund P.O. Box 1019 S. Dennis Ma. 02660

Steve was a Maine Maritime Grad and I was a Mass Maritime Grad. We always challenged each other who was the better Merchant Marine Officer. Sorry to see him pass. "The good seaman weathers the storm he cannot avoid, and avoids the storm he cannot weather"
