Arlene (Bent) Boyson, 91, passed away at her home in Burlington on November 6, 2025.
Born in Cambridge, she was the loving daughter of the late John and Laura (Medeiros) Bent. Arlene was educated in the Cambridge school system and, after graduating high school, began her career as an administrative assistant with Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company. She remained there for many years until her well-earned retirement.
Arlene lived with her parents for much of her early life, cherishing their close bond, until she met her perfect companion, the late John T. Boyson. The two shared 20 wonderful years of marriage before John's passing in 2006. Together they loved to travel, exploring favorite destinations such as Florida, Lake Placid, and, most memorably, Graceland, where Arlene delighted in visiting Elvis Presley's mansion and museum. A lifelong Elvis fan, she proudly owned every one of his records and amassed an impressive collection of Elvis memorabilia.
Arlene was known for her vibrant spirit and warm heart. She loved to dance, to laugh, and to connect with everyone she met. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, she was a devoted Catholic who prayed daily for family, friends, and even strangers. Whether it was a loved one in need or a squirrel trying to cross the road, Arlene would offer a prayer, confident that her words reached heaven and made a difference.
Her love extended deeply to animals of all kinds, and she had a gift for making every creature, or person, feel special. Arlene made friends wherever she went, especially at her local Shaw's supermarket, where she joked that everyone from the bagger to the store manager knew her by name.
Though she had no children of her own, Arlene cherished her nieces and nephews as if they were her children, and adored her great-nieces and great-nephews like grandchildren. She prayed for them each and every day.
Arlene was predeceased by her siblings James Bent and John Bent.
She is survived by her nephews, John Bent and his wife Cassandra of Baltimore, MD., Michael Bent and his wife Deborah of Baltimore, MD., Anthony Bent of Blythewood, SC., Joseph Bent and his wife Deborah of Davidsonville, MD., Charles Bent of Palm Springs, CA., James Bent of Whitewater, CA., and a Niece, Kathleen Ross and her husband Steven of Goodlettsville, TN as well as many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visiting hours on Thursday, November 20th from 10am to 11:30am at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Margaret's Church in St. Veronica's Parish, 111 Winn St., at 12 noon. Services will conclude at Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
