Stephen (Steve) Douglas Brooks, 61 of Greenville, WV went home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2024 after a long courageous hard fought battle with cancer. Born April 19, 1963 in Union, WV he was a son of the late Clarence Brooks and Christine Bradley Johnson.
Steve was a disabled foreman for an asbestos removal team. Steve as we all joked never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and taking care of his flowers. He loved to ride his 4 wheeler and sitting in his special spot listening to music with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his step-dad and friend Larry Johnson or as Steve said his "pops". Brothers: Wade (Teresa) Brooks, Randy (Sandy) Brooks and bonus brother and buddy Joel McMillion. Sister: Cindy Johnson (Joel). Special niece Shannon (Clayton) whom he lovingly called "his baby". As well as a great nephew he called "little man" Aaron. Survivors also include Nieces: Tonya (Timmy) Dolan, Hannah (Jonathan) Hostetter; Nephews: Eric Brooks, Matthew (Kellen) Brooks, Randall Brooks and several great nieces and nephews Longtime girlfriend Lisa Cash, Steve's beloved and spoiled dog Bobo "cornbread".
Steve will be cremated per his request. A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 17, 2024 at 2:00PM with Pastor Mike Smith officiating, where Steve will be laid to rest beside his beloved mom Christine Johnson at Keaton Cemetery in Lindside, WV.
