Stephen Anthony Clark, 71, of Laurel, MD passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Howard County General Hospital.
Born in Prince Georges County, Stephen was the son of the late Ronald W. Clark and Jessie L. Annibale Clark. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball, bowling, fishing, and photography.
"Steve," as most knew him, worked at Verizon, where he met his wife, Mary Ellen. In their 46 years of marriage, the couple had fun snow skiing, water skiing, jet skiing, and boating, both together and with their son, Stephen M. Clark. A lot of pleasant memories were spent at Lake Anna, where Steve liked to show his son how to drive the boat.
Sharing laughs and activities with loved ones and friends who became second family were an important part of Steve's lasting legacy. Trips to Ocean City with his great nieces, Melody Bryant and Quinn (Maddelyn) Phillips, and cousins were always looked forward to. Steve was happy to share the experience with our son, Jason, Marty and adopted family Bennett, Brennae, and their parents just last year.
Steve was also known and appreciated for generously lending a hand to those needing assistance with projects and paperwork.
Survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Clark, and son, Stephen Matthew Clark (Jason Scott Rettig) and sons best friend Marty Rausch. These include sibling Ronald W. Clark and family, and deceased brother Timothy J. Clark and family and their Aunt Estelle. Steve will be missed by many family members, cousins, and friends.
I thank my son, Stephen, for the love of his father and helping his mother immensely. I also thank my niece, Stephanie L. McMurray (a nurse), who extended tremendous love and support while her uncle was in the hospital.
We love you Steve (Dad) and will most surely miss you.
May you rest peacefully with God, the angels, and family.

We miss Steve dearly! I always enjoyed coming home to him and Joe hanging out on in the porch chatting about the world and all its problems. The two of them always enjoyed working on house or yard projects together. He was always "spooning" out a dish of trouble and teasing me about something! We are extremely sorry for your loss, Mary. We are here to help any time you need it. May God give you comfort and peace as you work through this difficult season.

Sorry for your loss to the family. I worked at Laurel garage with Steve. He subbed in a bowling league I started in Laurel with some other Verizon employees. Excellent person..

Steve Clark was a wonderful husband and father. He was a great brother in law and uncle to our daughter Tammy. I remember the fun we had playing cutthroat Uno games with the family. We will miss him greatly. He was truly a great man. Love forever Maureen, Bob and Tammy
