Stephen "Wayne" Dewell, 73, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away, on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1952, in Douglasville, Georgia, to the late Henry Dewell and Lou Renfroe Dewell.
Wayne worked tirelessly for Delta Airlines for thirty-four years. After retiring, he started two FAA repair stations from the ground up, employing eighty people with International Component Repair and IHI-ICR.
He was a man marked by humility, kindness, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He didn't need a spotlight to lead-his presence alone brought peace, wisdom, and a sense of God's nearness. He was soft-spoken but full of truth, a shepherd who carried the heart of Jesus everywhere he went.
Wayne believed with all his heart that the best is yet to come. That wasn't just a phrase to him-it was a posture of hope that he lived every single day. Through every season, in joy and in sorrow, his faith remained steady. He reminded us all to look forward, to keep going, to trust that God was always working for good. He loved deeply and led gently, and his life was a testimony of what it means to walk with Jesus-faithful, steady, loving, and full of grace. Catalyst Church is forever marked by his legacy, his prayers, his encouragement, and his unwavering belief in what God can do through people who simply say "yes."
And now, he's home. The race is finished, the fight is over, and we can be certain Heaven welcomed him with the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
"The best is yet to come." – Wayne Dewell
He is survived by his loving wife, Shelby Brown Dewell; his daughters and sons-in-law, Brittany and Geoffrey Pool and Meredith and Andy Kolaski; brother Lamar Dewell; grandchildren Emory Pool, Elijah Pool, Luke Kolaski, and Austin Kolaski.
A celebration to honor Wayne's life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the Catalyst Church with Pastor Ben Bonner officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Wayne's memory to Catalysts Church, 1103 GA-113, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.

What started as a fledgling business association quickly became a lifelong friend, connected through our common adoration and commitment to God. Wayne will live on in my heart and thoughts and I hope he puts in a good word for me and all of us left behind so that we continue our celebration with Christ as well as eachother.
