In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen H. Elzey, whose life was a testament to kindness, and quiet strength. We honor his journey, celebrate his achievements, and find comfort in the memories he has left behind.
Steve was born in Cambridge, Maryland to Charles "Bunkie" Elzey and Ida Frances Elzey (nee Tregoe), both deceased. He is survived by his brother, Charles R (Ricky) Elzey; sister, Beth Littleton; grandson, Benjamin C. Elzey; and numerous nieces and nephews. His brother David Elzey passed away several years ago, additionally his son Steven C Elzey passed away last year. Raised by devoted parents who instilled the values of integrity, empathy, and hard work, the foundation for a meaningful life was laid in his early years. Family was always at the center of his universe.
After Steve completed four years in the United States Air force he embarked in a career within the trucking industry, mostly dealing with logistics at a managerial level. After many years in this capacity, he left that industry and opened a furniture store after a couple of years he decided that the furniture store was not for him. He then decided he would open a bar and package good store in Georgetown, Delaware, that bar was called Stingers.
Stingers was the place to be if you loved Karaoke. In his off time from the bar Steve would spend hours downloading music and lyrics for his patrons.
Additionally, Steve loved to play pool, both 8 and 9 ball.
Even as his physical strength waned, the light of his spirit shone undimmed-offering wisdom, humor, and reassurance.
Though we mourn the loss, we are comforted by the knowledge that a life so well-lived leaves an enduring impact. The lessons shared, the love bestowed, the laughter and tears remain woven into the fabric of our lives.
In the days ahead, may we continue to honor his legacy by living with purpose, embracing each moment, and extending the compassion so freely given. Though our hearts ache with loss, we are grateful for the gift of a life that touched so many.
Rest peacefully. You will be dearly missed, loved, and forever cherished. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Stephen, please visit our floral store.
