Stephen D. Fejes, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, age 75, of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023.
He leaves his wife of 34 years, Anna Carol Fejes; is survived by his daughter Sarah Meinke and son David Waller; brothers Tim and Joe; sisters-in-law Terry Fejes, Joni Fejes, Lori Perry, and brother-in-law Greg Perry as well as many loving friends.
Born September 26, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Steve graduated from Clay High School, Oregon, Ohio in 1965. He excelled tremendously academically; belonging to the National Honor Society and elected as a Supreme Court Judge when chosen to attend Buckeye Boys State. His true excellence was his athletic talents. He belonged to the track, basketball and wrestling teams but his superior achievements were on the football field. He was honored to be awarded a full ride four-year scholarship to Ohio State University during the Woody Hayes era. During Spring training, he injured his knee, ending his future as a football legend. Ohio State University continued to honor his scholarship but Steve decided to leave OSU because he felt it was not right since he could no longer play. Ultimately, Steve graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York with a Bachelor of Science.
After college he worked in sales for the Devillbis Company in Toledo, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan. He later owned his own business in Toledo. From there, Steve lived most of his adult life in Texas after moving for a job, and then worked in the paint and glass coating industry, retiring in 2013.
Steve loved Ohio State Football (especially if they beat Michigan). Steve would get so excited about his birthday he would start talking about it in January and become increasingly more excited as the months drew closer. He loved ice cream birthday cakes that his wife would make him.
Loved by many, Steve left an impression on all that had the privilege of knowing him. He was loving and generous. Amongst his professional accomplishments and extensive world travel, family has always been an important part of his life. He enjoyed staying home and socializing. He loved playing golf, and if his clubs were to suddenly become damaged from running through luggage at the airport, he would be very upset.
Steve is preceded in death by parents, Stephen and Marie Fejes and brother Michael.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse or St. Jude.
A very special devotion of gratitude to those who helped him; Cynthia Wagner, Regina Dickson, and most of all to Joël Romig.
