Stephen Andrew Harding, 45, of Heber City, Utah, passed away on August 27th, 2025, following a paddle boarding accident.
Born in Jacksonville, Arkansas to Steven F. Harding and the late Lillian Aline Rhinehart, Stephen dedicated 19 years of his life to serving in the United States Marine Corps. During his distinguished career, Lieutenant Colonel Harding earned numerous commendations including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and several other honors for his exemplary service. He was just days away from retirement at the time of his passing.
Stephen was an adventurous spirit who found joy in snowboarding, skiing, and exploring Utah's outdoor landscapes. His greatest pride was his three daughters: Avery, Ainsley, and Ary Harding.
He was preceded in death by his mother and sister Robbie Ballard and Todd Rhinehart. He is survived by his father, Steven F. Harding (Bement, Illinois); brothers Logan Rhinehart, Darrell Lawson (Keota, Oklahoma), Mike & Dusty Rhinehart, and sister Kristi Harris (Atkins, Arkansas); special friend Brooke Wood & numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, & cousins.
A military funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 5th at the Midway Cemetery, with visitation from 12:00-1:00 PM at the Midway Funeral Home. Following the service, an informal gathering with food and refreshments will be held at Heber City Park from 3:30-4:45 PM, where Stephen and Sarah's daughters will receive friends and classmates.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to support Stephen's daughters would be deeply appreciated. Venmo @Ainsley_Harding
