Stephen “Kurt” Hodges, 53, of Reidsville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Reidsville Christian Church with Pastor Shannon Newsome officiating. The family will receive friends at the home.
Kurt was a lifelong resident of Reidsville and he was a wonderful husband to Beth and a loving son of Scarlett and the late Gerald Hodges. Kurt embraced life to the fullest and loved spending time with his wife, his family and his friends. Kurt and Beth spent a lot of time at their “happy place,” Smith Mountain Lake. Kurt was always the life of the party. He had a special gift of telling jokes and stories and he loved his music. Kurt had a love for cooking and sharing his culinary creations with family and friends just because he loved everyone being together. This sudden loss of Kurt has impacted his entire community of family and friends, as he was so loving and yet so loved. His charisma, character and wit will always remain in the hearts of those who so dearly love him. Kurt was an animal lover and was devoted to his Boxer, Captain and his Heeler, Maggie. He loved them like they were his babies.
Kurt was proud of his career in contractor sales at H & B Hardware in Eden, NC. He was devoted to his work and embraced his work family. Prior to his work in contractor sales, Kurt was owner of the Wentworth Grill with his brother Todd. They were very successful and loved this venture in the culinary arena. Kurt also partnered with his father, operating their pressure washing business, Under Pressure. He cherished this opportunity to work alongside his dad.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Jones Hodges; mother, Scarlett Hodges; brother, Gerald Todd Hodges (Karen), sister, Tara Hodges Bradford (Reid Hooper); nieces and nephews, Austin Jones (Katelin), Katherine Bradford, Claire Barksdale (Jarrett), Tony and Justin Farmer; great nephew, Jackson Barksdale; brother-in-law, David Jones (Angie), mother-in-law, Anne Oakley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
