Stephen Robert Janda was born October 19, 1961 in Caldwell, Texas to Robert and Mildred Janda. He was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caldwell, Texas and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas. He attended school in Giddings. Steve was united in marriage to Jeanette Lorenz at Immanuel Lutheran Church on October 24, 1981. They were blessed with 3 children Ian, Jacob, & Kaitlyn, and 3 grandchildren Ella, Layla and Joy. Steve passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette of Hills, Texas; son, Ian and Alex Janda and daughter Joy of Brenham, Texas; son, Jacob and Sarah Janda and daughters, Ella and Layla of Giddings, Texas; daughter, Kaitlyn Janda and Wyatt Pavlicek of Midway, Texas; mother-in-law, Gertrude Lorenz of Giddings, Texas; brother, Daryl and Rhonda Janda of Lexington, Texas; brother-in-law, Richard Hazel of Arlington, Texas ; sisters-in-law, Jolene and Paul Fischer of Giddings, Texas, Eunice and John Siegmund of Ledbetter, Texas; special aunt, Norma Goetz of Shiner, Texas as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mildred Janda; brother, Michael Janda; father-in-law, Alfred Lorenz; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hazel; nephew, Matthew Siegmund, and the grandchildren that went to heaven before they were born.
Steve was a faithful servant and he worked numerous jobs to support his family. After his retirement from Cargill, Jacob and Steve opened Janda Monument Company where he worked until his health didn't allow him too. He served on numerous church boards at Immanuel Lutheran, the School Board at Immanuel Lutheran School and donated his time to drive a school bus route at Immanuel Lutheran School. When he was called to serve the Lord, he said "here I am, send me"! Steve also proudly served on the Giddings Independent School District School Board for 9 years where he helped get the elementary school and high school built. He donated his time to coach numerous kids in the Lee County Little League, Little Dribblers Basketball, Giddings Optimist Soccer and it was truly his passion. Steve also was a basketball referee and baseball umpire for many years. He was a Boy Scout leader that helped mold numerous children's lives teaching them life skills and learning how to camp in the outdoors.
He loved family vacations especially going to the beach, sports (especially baseball), going to see the Astros or Rangers play ball, visiting his hometown of Shiner, Texas and spending time with his family and friends. He had a love for Elvis and 70's rock music. He loved music concerts and had the privilege to meet the Beach Boys and the band Chicago.
Steve never met a stranger and always spread the word of Jesus Christ. He always had a positive attitude on life and a smile that would light up a room.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner and Rev. Joshua Hahn officiating. The service will be live-streamed on the church's Facebook page. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Daryl Janda, Reagan Janda, Mark Goetz, David Goetz, Scott Siegmund, Jason Fischer, David Fischer, Ralph Mutscher, Don Johnson, Michael Francis, Tony Francis, and Greg Strickland.

charity of your choice.
