Stephen T. Joyce, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was the devoted husband of Geraldine (Stango) Joyce, with whom he shared many cherished years of marriage.
Born in Waterbury on June 17, 1951, Stephen was the beloved son of the late Harold D. and Emma (Rainone) Joyce. He attended John F. Kennedy High School and proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran during the Vietnam Era. Stephen dedicated over 20 years of service to the City of Waterbury Water Department, retiring as a Maintenance Foreman.
Stephen was a longstanding and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus Sheridan Council #24, where he proudly served as Past Grand Knight and former District Deputy. He was also instrumental in organizing and leading the Knights of Columbus Golf League for many years. In addition, he was a member of the Waterbury B.P.O. Elks #265 and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
A man of few words and a truly generous heart, Stephen found his greatest joy in time spent with his family, especially his beloved son, Dillon, of whom he was immensely proud. He treasured family vacations to Cape Cod and Misquamicut Beach, which remained among his favorite memories. Devoted to his faith, Stephen was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church, where he also faithfully volunteered at the annual parish carnival. In recent years, he attended Mass regularly at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Stephen also enjoyed the simple pleasure of meeting friends at the Seven Eleven Restaurant, a tradition he held dear for many years.
In addition to Geraldine, his devoted wife of 33 years, Stephen is survived by his son Dillon Joyce of Waterbury and his sister Eileen Joyce of Waterbury. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother David Joyce and his twin sister Cynthia Joyce.
Stephen's funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 9:00am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St. to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass at 10:00am. Burial will be at a later day. Family and friends can visit with Stephen's family on Tuesday evening from 4:00-7:00pm.
