Steve spent his career as a sales representative for Strategic Connections (formally Long Communications), where he was consistently recognized as a top salesman-a reflection not just of his talent, but of the relationships he built and the joy he brought to his work. He had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and valued.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy O'Brien Kates; his daughters, Elisa Boyle (Conrad) and Charlotte Kates; his grandchildren, Connor, Addison, Chase, and Avery; his brother, Mike Kates (Phyllis); his nephew Austin (Ashley) and their children, Brady and Taylor. Steve's love for his family was boundless, and he took pride in every moment spent with them.
A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks to honor Steve's legacy, laughter, and the light he brought into the world. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
