Stephen Foster McHugh, beloved father and husband, left this world on Monday, May 27, 2024, and is now dancing on the streets of Heaven.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Stephen A. McHugh and Beatrice L. McHugh. He attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in business. He moved from Michigan to Florida where he was the owner of a landscape design and maintenance business. He retired in Anderson, South Carolina with his wife, Carol, and spent his time enjoying golf, gardening, and his family.
He is survived by his sister, Diane McHugh Hadley of Raleigh, NC; wife, Carol McHugh of Anderson, SC; children, Marti Gilmet, Mary Bugeja, Elizabeth McDuff (Richard), Steve McHugh (Billi), Doug Kling, Debbie Little, and Ronda Bartlett; grandchildren, Alexis Gilmet, Eric Gilmet (Mindy), Emily Gilmet Armstrong (Tucker), Lucas McDuff (Vicky), Noah McDuff, Marcus Pfenninger (Kayla Clark), Michael Stites (Stephanie), Jason Hannay, and Matthew Gunter; great grandchildren, Audrey, Zac, Emma, William, Axel, Maverick, Kenley, Maxston, Olivia, and Liam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patti Smith and Kathi Schutt; and grandchild, Tyler Hannay.
Steve prioritized joy and laughter and shared those traits with his family. In lieu of a service, his family asks that you do the same with your families. He will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621, or Gentiva Hospice, 127 Straight Dr., Anderson, SC 29625.
