Stephen Orapello

Stephen Orapello Obituary Mr. Stephen "Orpie" Orapello, 59, of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born on October 6, 1964, he was a son of the late Joseph and Barbara Bottisti Orapello.
A lifelong area resident, Orpie was a 1982 graduate of Perth Central High School. He was employed as a Bartender and Pizzaiolo working at the formal Crystal Ristorante, AKA Crystal Bar and most recently, Cronies Restaurant in Hagaman.
Stephen was of the Roman Catholic faith. He enjoyed sports both playing and watching Baseball, Basketball, Football, Pool, Table Tennis and was an avid Golfer. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially when the time involved food and watching sports. He also enjoyed working with his brother catering wood fired pizzas at various festivals, parties and weddings throughout New York State. Stephen also loved animals (especially his beloved Bella) and supported most local animal shelters.
He was a friend to all who knew him and will be missed.
Survivors include his beloved siblings, Michele Orapello (Dave Morales) of Rochester, NY, Sheila (Paul) Collins of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Renee (Gene) Harper of North Myrtle Beach, SC, James Orapello of Hagaman, NY, Joseph (Kim) Orapello Jr. of Amsterdam, NY and John Orapello of Amsterdam, NY; his cherished nieces and nephews, Mark, Jimmy Joe, Robbie, Michelle, Bryan, Lauren, Taylor, Joey III, Margaret, Rachel, Matthew, Jacob, Richard and Joshua.; great nieces and nephews, Bowie, Robbie Jr., Sam, Isla, Luca, Liam, Amya, Mariyah, Caliana and Finnley; one aunt, Sandra Winney and numerous cousins also survive.
Stephen was predeceased by his beloved niece, Shannon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday September 20, 2024 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis, E.V. as celebrant. All are invited to attend.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, 1232 NY-5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
