Stephen Orrell, 89, longtime resident of Storrs CT passed away at home on December 26th, 2025. He enjoyed a full and well-lived life. He was born in Massachusetts but spent a large portion of his childhood in Maine. He had many lifelong interests including boating, history and the outdoors. In 1966 he met his wife to be Maureen. They quickly married and were blessed with two daughters, Ellen and Maura. Stephen was a devoted and loving father to them. He was a kind and gentle man. He was very curious, read widely and had a great love for history and machinery. Stephen was always ready to help people in need.
He was a long-time parishioner at Saint Thomas Aquinas in Storrs and Saint Mary Church in Coventry and a member of the Nights of Columbus.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Maureen, and brother David. He is survived by his two daughters, son in-law Doug and his brother Patrick as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Stephen’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel, 46 North Eagleville Rd., Storrs from 10:00am to 11:00am. His Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00am, with burial to follow at Mansfield Center Cemetery, Mansfield Center.
