Stephen L. Patch, age 76, a lifetime resident of Bakersfield, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife and stepdaughter by his side, on 12/30/23 after a battle with cancer. He was born at home in Bakersfield to Merritt & Lila Patch.
The most important things in his life were camping, traveling, gardening, and building anything. The man could build anything. He attended Richford High School, served in the US Army in Vietnam & Germany. He was a member of the Legion Post #42 of Enosburg Falls for 41 years as well as a lifetime member of the St. Albans VFW Post. Stephen doted on his wife, Barbara.
Stephen leaves behind his wife, Barbara (Weeks) Patch of Bakersfield, his brother Randy Patch & wife Deanna of Littleton, NH. His daughter Tina Reece & husband Tyrone, daughter Wendy Patch, son Mark Patch, step-daughter Susan Gancarz & husband Scott & step-son Scott Ovitt & wife Tracy. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, a nephew and his very special pets Sabrina & Samantha.
He was predeceased by his parents Merritt & Lila Patch, sister Paula Jablonski and granddaughter Tricia Cassidy.
We would like to thank the Cancer Center at UVM Medical Center, Home Health & Hospice of Franklin County for all of the care he was given over the last 5 months.
A Memorial Service is planned for 2/17/24 1-5pm, at the American Legion in Enosburg Falls, VT. The service is potluck, please bring a dish to share and wear your favorite flannel shirt. Steve would love that.
Cremation services provided by A.W. Rich of Fairfax, VT. His burial will be at the time of his wife Barbara's passing at which time they will be buried together. They will be buried with Stephen's family in the Bakersfield cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Stephen's name to UVM Cancer Center, Franklin County Home Health & Hospice, Lucas Williams memorial Fund Rosalie Williams Bakersfield, VT, or the American Legion Post #42 of Enosburg Falls, VT.
