Stephen Lee Peers was born February 1, 1968 in
Orange, CA and passed away January 11, 2026 in
Wickenburg, AZ at the age of 57.
Stephen grew up in South
Phoenix, AZ and attended St. Catherine's Catholic School and Church where he was a dedicated and respected altar boy for many years. Stephen graduated from Brophy College Preparatory in 1986 and later attended Maricopa County Skills Center and Glendale Community College. He joined the Arizona Army National Guard where he served for four years and received an honorable discharge, which he was very proud of.
Stephen worked in various machine shops. He was a metrologist, also known as a calibration technician, and was respected in his field. Stephen left metrology for a quieter life in Wickenburg where he went to work at 'All Thrive 365,' a social service organization for communities in need, which was founded by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix. He additionally enjoyed his time as a security guard where he was fortunate to meet various celebrities and political figures. He loved being in service to people and helping his community.
After ten years of dating, Stephen married Kymy (Stover) Villalobos in March 2010 in Las Vegas, NV. After returning to their Catholic faith, they had their marriage convalidated in the Roman Catholic Church in January 2016. Although they had a mixed family, they considered all children to be their children. Stephen is survived by his wife Kymy, sons Chad E. Villalobos, Stephen J. Peers II, Nathan A. Villalobos, Jaydon L. Peers, and Logan E. Peers as well as daughter Samantha R. Villalobos. He is also survived by his mother Aurelia M. (Garcia) Peers, grandson Stephen Aydn Peers III, stepmother Judith Peers, and stepsister Adrianna Guillory. He is preceded in death by his father Albert Peers, brother Robert Aguilar, and in-laws Donie E. Stover and Lana E. (Manley) Stover.
Stephen enjoyed trips on his fishing boat, the Swamp Rabbit, and other outdoor activities. He enjoyed participating in local events; playing his tin whistle; listening to ham radios; grilling almost everyday; shooting; going to museums; taking day trips throughout Arizona; and going on vacation with Kymy and his family. Stephen proudly served as an Arizona Minute Man on Arizona's Southern border and was proud to have been interviewed by Kari Lake when she worked for Fox 10. He loved to joke that his claim to fame was meeting stars like William Shatner, Mario Lopez, Vivica A. Fox, and Donald J. Trump.
Stephen was a self-described 'old goat,' and a self-proclaimed 'low land, desert dwelling rat.' He jokingly boasted of his ability to keep a car or a computer running forever. All those who knew him will miss his quick-wit.
He loved his family and his faith and will be missed by all those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to either
St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to Shriners Children's
