Stephen D. Perry, of Brighton, MI and native of Salt Rock, West Virginia, died surrounded by his family in the early afternoon hours of Thursday, March 10, 2022. He was 71 years old.
Steve was born in West Hamlin, WV on April 20, 1950 to proud parents, Earl and Vivian Perry. He grew up in Salt Rock, WV and his career in the railroad industry (CSX for 41 years) brought him to Michigan. Destiny and happenstance led him to meet his wife of 48 years, Marlene. The two were married on August 18, 1973 and have resided all over Southeastern, MI before settling in Brighton Twp.
Steve enjoyed horse racing and even owned his own race horses at one point. He was passionate about Marshall football, history, ancestry and his canine companions. Steve enjoyed long road trips in the fall and time spent out West. He loved visiting his family in West Virginia and adored his son, daughter and his grandchildren. He was a hard worker, a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marlene M. (nee. Milholin) Perry; his son, Matthew (Deborah) Perry and his daughter, Lindsay (Kyle) Passage; grandchildren, Theodore and Martin Perry and Madison and Kylie Passage; his sister, Linda (Mike) Russell as well as many dear friends and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Vivian (nee. Morrison) Perry; his step-mother, Irene Perry and his infant sister, Joyce Perry.
Services will take place in West Virginia on Saturday, June 4, 2022. For further information, please contact Lynch & Sons, Brighton at 810-229-2905.
