Stephen Savitt passed away on April 25, 2025 after a lengthy illness. He was born in New York City on February 25, 1939 and was predeceased in death by his parents Benjamin Savitsky and Mildred Savitsky. He is survived by his wife & college sweetheart of 64 years, Gerri Buchman Savitt, his wonderful son Alan Savitt and daughter in law, Dorilee Ryan Savitt, and his three beautiful grandchildren, Savannah, Ryan & Shelby. He is also survived by his brother Michael Savitt wife Karen and nieces Caroline & Allison of New Jersey. Steve went to the University of Alabama and graduated with a BS degree in business. He and Gerri married in August 1960. He worked for Bell and Howell, Xerox and then Merrill Lynch for 25 years until his retirement as Vice President at the age of 55. He was on the Board of Directors of the Tower Club, former member of the University Club, Carrollwood Golf Club, Temple Terrace Golf Club and was one of the first members of Avila Golf & Country Club. He loved golf, and was avid reader. Steve was a stock arbitrator for the NASD & NYSE. After his retirement he joined the reserve as a deputy for the Sherriff Department for 8 years. He played amateur baseball & softball and loves coaching & managing youth baseball. Steve loved going to sporting events to watch his grandchildren at baseball, softball & swim meets. He played a very important role in their lives. He loved spending his retirement days with his wife Gerri, and will be terribly missed by his family.
In lieu of flowers please make donation to Amy Gail Buchman preschool (www.bucstrong.org) or a charity of your choice.
Graveside service is May 1st, 12PM, at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The family will also be receiving guests at The Diplomat (2611 Bayshore Blvd, Tampa) immediately following the graveside service.
