Stephen Lauriat Sawin, age 81, of Medway, passed away on April 6, 2025 surrounded by his family at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of Leah S. (Wamboldt) Sawin for 25 years.
Born in Boston on September 18, 1943, to the late Kenneth A. and Evelyn L. (Jennings) Sawin, Stephen resided in Medway for the last 25 years.
Stephen dedicated his career to respiratory therapy, serving at numerous hospitals. He found enjoyment in golfing, attending concerts, and following Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. A true history enthusiast, Stephen possessed an impressive memory for past events.
He is survived by his wife, Leah; his children, Cheri Sawin of Marlborough, Cindy Sawin of Leicester, and Robert Sawin of Natick; his niece, Kimberly Staples; and his nephew, Scott Sawin.
Stephen also leaves behind his stepchildren, Kristin Umina of Plymouth and Peter Umina of Milford, and his grandchildren, Jacqueline Umina and Joseph Umina.
He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Sawin.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 15th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street, Medway
Donations in Stephen's memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children PO Box 1525, Ranson, WV, 25438, in lieu of flowers.
