Stephen Emanuel Schrader was born on October 22, 1954 to Emanuel and Beulah (Bennett)
Schrader at Burke, SD. Steve passed away on August 7, 2025 at the Avera McKennan Hospital
in Sioux Falls, SD after a brief battle with cancer. Steve was the 16th kid of the 17 Schrader
children. Steve spent all 70 years of his life on the home place that his parents purchased in
1932.

Steve grew up doing many chores on the farm, from feeding bucket calves and the pigs, doing
chicken chores and graduating to milking the cows by hand as the years went by. Steve and his
siblings and other relatives spent many days riding the Shetland ponies to check on the cows
and spending time enjoying the summer days. Steve started helping in the hay field by riding on
the dump, behind one of the older siblings driving the tractor. Eventually moving up to mowing
and raking alongside his dad and the other siblings.

Steve attended the Spotted Tail country school through the 8th grade and kept working on the
family farm after his schooling ended. Steve was an avid sports fan from an early age, listening
to games on the radio or watching them on the TV. Steve watched all kinds of sports, but he
especially loved watching his Yankees play baseball. He also loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers
and watched many of their football and volleyball games over the years. Steve extended his
love of sport into his personal life when he played slow pitch softball with the Burke
Moonlighters and the Carlock Bandits for many years.

Steve was always going to family gatherings and visiting his siblings and relatives whenever he
could. Steve loved to visit and talk about all of life's events with those around him.

Steve is survived by his sisters: Deloris Novotny, Carol Feyereisen, Geraldine Feyereisen,
brothers: Daniel Schrader and Duane Schrader (Kelly Tuttle), and many nieces and nephews,
friends and neighbors.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Emanuel and Beulah Schrader, sisters: Virginia
Frank, Thelma Sell, and Iona Belle Schrader, brothers: Ivan Schrader, LaVerne Schrader,
Orval Schrader, Orlin Schrader, Harlin Schrader, Larry Schrader, Dale Schrader and Roger
Schrader.
