The family of Stephen Wayland Silagi is saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the age of 83.

Stephen "Steve" Silagi was born on November 22, 1941, in Washington, D.C., where his father was working as an assistant to a congressman. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Jackson, Michigan, where Steve grew up playing baseball and learning to bowl. He developed a lifelong love for the sport and was proud of his all-time high bowling score of 269.

After graduating high school, Steve served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. His military service took him to Okinawa and Germany, and gave him the opportunity to visit Spain, Italy, Denmark, and Holland. Upon returning to Michigan, Steve became an Assistant Store Manager for Kroger-where he met fellow employee and the love of his life, Kathy. The two were married in February 1971 and shared 52 years together. They raised two beautiful children, Steve Jr. and Michelle, and Steve enjoyed coaching their soccer teams when they were young.

In 1976, the family moved to Colorado, later relocating to Virginia in 2014. Steve's career path also led him to work as a truck driver for Chatham Grocery. He and Kathy shared a love of travel, sightseeing, visiting military landmarks, and attending Blue Angels air shows.

Following Kathy's passing in 2023, Steve moved to Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Midlothian, Virginia, where he embraced the community and its activities. He enjoyed miniature golf, bowling, weekly bingo games, and even took up painting-creating beautiful works of art. During his time there, Steve formed many cherished friendships.

He found joy in walks with his beloved Sheltie, Sadie, and always welcomed new adventures.

Steve is survived by his children Steve Jr. and Michelle; sisters, Linda and Dorothy; as well as many friends and loved ones who will miss his kind spirit and adventurous heart.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Solosy Funeral Home.

Military Honors & Funeral Service will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Interment will follow at Woodmere Cemetery.
