Stephen Carl Solomon, born on December 27, 1955, in Richmond County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home in Rockingham on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He was a dedicated individual whose life was marked by commitment to family, passion for his work, and a variety of interests that enriched his years.
Retiring as an engineer from CSX Railroad, Stephen enjoyed a career that reflected his hardworking nature and dedication to his profession. His career not only provided a livelihood but also served as a testament to his technical skills and his love for the railroads.
Stephen's life was filled with personal joys, including his deep love for his family. His proudest accomplishments were centered around his beloved family, which included his wife, Patricia Hildreth Solomon; his daughters, Jennifer Weatherly, Carla Rankin (Mitchell), and Loren Solomon; and his cherished grandchildren, Hunter Smith (Kate), Addison Smith, Cassidy Weatherly, Bryson Solomon, Jordan Rankin, and Chandler Rankin (Kennedy). Additionally, Stephen was a loving great-grandfather to Millie Rankin, Liam Rankin, Rhett Rankin, and Barrett Rankin. He is also survived by his brother, Barry Solomon (Charlie).
Stephen had a zest for life that saw him embracing various hobbies and interests. He found much joy in riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles and had a knack for collecting guns and pocketknives. These pursuits exemplified his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors.
In remembrance of Stephen Carl Solomon, a visitation will be held on November 2, 2025, from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM at Beverly Hills Baptist Church, located at 110 Kemberly Street, Rockingham, NC 28379. A Celebration of Life conducted by Rev. Lenier Furr will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM.
Stephen leaves behind a legacy of love, pride, and devotion to his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
