Stephen Star Comes Out Obituary
Stephen Bernard Star Comes Out, Jr. was born on March 30, 1939, at the Hokayuta Tiospaye (No Water Community 9 miles from Oglala, SD to Steven Star Comes Out and Stella Bear Robe. Bernard made his journey to the Spirit World on February 22, 2025 at the White Clay Nursing Home in White Clay, NE.
Bernard went to school at the Holy Rosary Mission Boarding School in 1945-1957. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea as a Construction Combat Engineer. He was a bus driver for Wanblee School in Wanblee, SD. He worked for the Solid Waste Disposal Program and he worked at farm jobs in Nebraska, and Ft. Lupton, CO.
Stephen is survived by his sons, Stanton (Brenda) Starr and Dustin Starr; daughter, Stephanie Star Comes Out; younger brother, Edward (Kathy) Star Comes Out; and numerous grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Stephen was proceeded in death by his spouse, Estelle (Slow Bear) Star Comes Out; parents, Stephen, Sr. and Stella (Bear Robe) Star Comes Out; son, Deon Star Comes Out; brothers, Frank Star Comes Out, Sr., Ivan Star Comes Out, Lawrence Star Comes Out, Stanley "Jumbo" Star Comes Out; sister, Clementine Blue Horse Owner-Jumping Bull; and Virginia Star Comes Out; niece, Tamara Star Comes Out; and granddaughter, Nicolette McLaughlin and Baby Cato.
Pallbearers will be Ivan E. Star Comes Out, James Star Comes Out, Patrick Starr, Frank Star Comes Out, Brian Starr, Barron Star Comes Out, and Johnathan Star Comes Out.
Honorary pallbearers will be All OST Solid Waste Disposal Program Employees, Oglala Sioux Lakota Nursing Home (White Clay Nursing Home) Residents & Staff, All Veterans, All Eyapaha, and All Friends & Relatives too numerous to name.
Wake Services: Two night wake services starting at 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Evening Services being held on Monday night at 7:00 PM with Military Roll Call to follow.
Funeral Services: 9:00 AM, Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD
Officiating: Pastor Elton Yellow Boy
Traditional Lakota Services: To Be Announced
Burial Services: Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Cemetery, Oglala, SD
Arrangements entrusted with the Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD
