Stephen Tillander, beloved husband, father, Grampy and friend, passed away at age 76 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Springfield, MA, attended Springfield Trade High School, where he studied Graphic arts while working as a linotype operator and graduated class valedictorian. He was a Vietnam Era Naval Veteran, a service he was proud of. He traveled much of the country in his younger days during his Naval service and after with his personal endeavors. Stephen worked as a printing press operator and business owner, a career he missed after his retirement.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 41 years Elizabeth (Betty) Catherine Mellor, their children Patrick Clemens and his wife Candie, Barbara Clemens Stage, Erin Tillander Brule and her husband Bryan, Beth Tillander Hamill and her husband Ian, Seth Tillander, his brother Michael Tillander and his wife Laura, 10 grandchildren, many extended family members, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cherished friends.
There will be a memorial celebration of life at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 8th, Hazardville United Methodist Church, 330 Hazards Ave. Enfield, CT. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Stephen's memory to Wounded Warrior Project.
