I met Steve when he and Peg were checking out our home. My battery had chosen that moment to quit on me, and I was busily trying to remedy matters out in the shop we'd built--apologizing from the doorway as the realtor pulled up. She told me "No worries," and the man and woman with her both waved. I then relaxed and resumed repairs.

Steve strolled on out after touring our house, and there was great warmth in his eyes. He said we had a beautiful place and he could tell it was well loved. I thanked him and explained we hated to sell but were moving to be near our grandson. He smiled knowingly and explained that was why they were moving to the area, to be near theirs. We felt an immediate connection.

He and Peg made a good offer, and we were happy to hand off to them, knowing the place would continue to be well loved, and imagining the fun they'd have there with their grandsons.

Steve and I continued to correspond occasionally by e-mail. I always enjoyed hearing from him. He was a good man.

My heart goes out to the family. I'm glad you had him for as long as you did.

It was a short friendship , but so meaningful! Steve paved the way with his battle against cancer with Allan following close behind; both of them courageous!!
The friendship began on the path next to Table Rock Lake as God orchestrated the intersection of our paths. Thanks be to God!
