Hugh Steve "Snuffy" Collins, Jr age 72 of Sweetwater, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, February 18, 2023, following a hard day's work in the yard. Steve retired from Arvin Meritor Corporation after 35 years of service as a welder. He loved working and staying busy. Retirement was too laid back for his taste. For 5 years he worked for Tennessee Hickory Products. Steve spent his free time fishing, watching "Westerns" on television and spending time with his grand-babies, something he truly loved doing.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Steve Collins, Sr and Flora Ailene (Arden) Mitchell; adoptive parents, Grayson and Goldie Huskin; sisters, Alice Todd and Ann Tinker; brother, Billy Ray Collins; and half-brother, Gene Arden. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Sally (Thompson) Collins; son, Timothy Collins and fiancé, Adrien Clark; step-son, James Middleton; adopted daughters, Penny Taylor and husband, Zachary; Molly Geagley and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Devin, Levi, Jason, Phoenix, Josalynn, Lily, and Nathaniel; sisters, Betty Schaffer and Sue Hicks; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to honor and remember Steve will be held 11 AM Thursday, February 23rd in the New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Sam Maynard officiating. Serving as pallbearers, Jason Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Michael Geagley, Joshua Taylor, Jonathan Thompson, and Alan Webb. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Wednesday, February 22nd in the McGill Click Chapel.
