Steve Cowles

Steven 'Steve' Cowles, 67, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Steve was born in Hartford on August 24, 1958, to the late Donald R. and Carolyn (Peterson) Cowles. He followed in his father and grandfather's footsteps, becoming a multi-generational firefighter with the Glastonbury Fire Department. He served his community for 49 years, serving as Captain of Company 1 for nineteen years. In his time with the Glastonbury Fire Department Steve also served as the Foreman of the Naubuc Fire Department Social Club for many years. Steve dedicated his whole life to serving people in their time of need. When he wasn't volunteering his time with the Glastonbury Fire Department, Steve was a Dispatcher for Colchester Emergency Communications, Inc. (KX 9-1-1) and was an Auxiliary State Trooper for the State of Connecticut.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife Nancy, her children Aimee and Danielle and their husbands and children who loved Grandpa Steve, his sister Lynn and her husband Kevin Hayes, and his nephews Paul Piacentini and Kevin Piacentini, who were like sons to him.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the Cowles family on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Irish American Home Society, 132 Commerce Street, Glastonbury the following evening, Friday, November 21, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Naubuc Fire Department Social Club, 2825 Main Street, Glastonbury.
