Stephen D. "Steve" Eaves, 83, husband of Cookie Eaves, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Baptist Health in Lexington. He was born February 22, 1941, in Woodford County to the late Steve Eaves, Jr., and Katherine Mullin Thompson. He was a 1959 graduate of Versailles High School and worked for more than 30 years for Rand McNally. He served two terms on the Versailles City Council, two terms on the Versailles Planning & Zoning Commission and was a Past President of the Woodford Hills Country Club. He was a member of Versailles Baptist Church and loved to hunt, fish, and golf. He had a lifetime love of baseball both as a player and a coach. He coached golf at Woodford County High School and was a huge UK sports fan. Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Praria "Cookie" Eaves, daughters, Kathy (Joe) Mokris, York, Pennsylvania, Kelley Eaves, Versailles, sister Mira Pickett, Frankfort, grandchildren, Jake Mokris, Scott Mokris, and Al Mokris.
Visitation will be conducted from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on Sunday January 19, 2025 followed by funeral services at 3:00 pm at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held at Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Woodford Humane Society, PO Box 44, Versailles, KY 40383. Family and Friends are encouraged to share memories and leave messages of condolence on Steve's tribute wall at www.BlackburnandWard.com.
