Stephen Neal Hammer passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 22, 2025.
Steve was born May 4, 1944, in Taylorsville, North Carolina, the son of the late Isaac Leroy Hammer and Amanda Hefner Hammer.
In 1965, Steve volunteered for service in the United States Army, serving one tour in Vietnam with the 19th Artillery attached to the 1st Calvery Division just south of the 17th parallel (DMZ) near the la Drang Valley.
