On Monday evening, August 18, 2025, Carolyn June Meredith Poole, 89, met her Lord and Savior face-to-face after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born on February 25, 1936 in Jacksboro, Tennessee to Ancil and Etta Meredith, Carolyn grew up as the baby of the family, surrounded by the love of her older siblings - Oral Ruth Creswell, John Meredith, Paul Meredith, and Electra Brogden.
From childhood, Carolyn followed the Lord faithfully as a member of Jacksboro Baptist Church. After high school, she attended Carson-Newman College, where she earned her teaching degree. At Carson-Newman, she met the love of her life, Joe Lemuel Poole. They shared 26 years of marriage until his death in 1986. He was not only her husband but her sweetheart, a place he held all her life.
Carolyn devoted more than 25 years to Skyview Elementary, where she was a beloved teacher and co-worker. Her students never forgot the way she cared for them and the faith she wove into her classroom.
Her life revolved around her faith and serving her Lord, her family, and her church. She treasured her children, and her main goal in life was for them to follow Jesus. Carolyn was a devoted member of Mableton First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and particularly loved teaching the young married class with Joe.
Those left to carry on her earthly legacy include her children, Greg Poole (Alisa) and Meredith Barth (Steve); her cherished grandchildren, Zachary Poole (Hannah), Kellie Barth Funnell (John), Caroline Barth, Lane Barth, and Hamilton Poole; and her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Finn, and Lucy Poole, and Emory Jo Funnell. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Joyce Poole and Jackie Poole; two special nieces, Paulette Gayden and Terri Schaffer; and many other nieces and nephews.
In her final years, Carolyn was lovingly cared for at The Retreat at Jasper and, more recently, at The Timbers of Blackwell Creek. Her family is deeply grateful to the caregivers at both facilities.
Carolyn will be remembered as a woman of steadfast faith, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher, whose greatest joy was always to point others to Jesus.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Trinity Church in Marble Hill, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mableton First Baptist Church or Trinity Church in Marble Hill, Georgia.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
