Steve Leon Hawthorne, Sr of Howe, TX passed away from this life on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Denison, TX, at the age of 81 after a short battle with leukemia. Born on April 18,1943, in Roxton, TX to James (Oliver) and Gladys Melviner (Wiiliams) Hawthorne. Steve left a mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Steve was a man of his word and for those that knew him, loved him dearly. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Steve was a loving father, brother, and his most treasured name was "Pawpaw". Steve's love for the outdoors was reflected in his everyday life. You could often find him out in his shop working on Steven's equipment, family members lawnmowers, or small appliances. He could fix anything. Steve's most favorite hobby was hunting and fishing with his hunting buddies and family especially (little man) at the deer lease in Clarksville, TX. He also would go on hunting trips to Kansas with Steven, Mike and Greenway. He hated the drive up to Kansas but enjoyed the time hunting with the guys when he got there. For those that visited him at his home, they always knew what the tv would be on, either FOX News or the western channel and you could hear it outside his door.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Howe, TX, his sons, Steve Hawthorne, Jr. and wife Kelly of Bells, TX, R.H. Hawthorne and wife Jeannie of Howe, TX. Steve was a PROUD Pawpaw to Branson Hawthorne, Hunter Hawthorne, Tyler Hawthorne, Lanie Hawthorne all of Bells, TX, Destiny Murphy of Sherman, TX, Dustin Murphy of Kansas City, MO and Billy White of Sherman, TX and Great Grandson Hayden Hawthorne of Valliant, OK. He leaves behind two sisters, Annie (Midge) Hawthorne Peacock of Howe, TX and Velma (Baby) Hawthorne Frampton of Howe, TX.
Steve's life testament of his love for his grandkids, family and friends was often seen when he attended sporting events, birthdays, hunting trips and taking the grandkids fishing. He loved for his hunting buddies to come visit him and he loved going uptown to visit his sisters Midge and Baby.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Gladys Hawthorne, brothers, William Hawthorne (Daygo), James Hawthorne (Hickie), George Henry Hawthorne (Mann), sisters Lou Etta Hawthorne, Betty Hawthorne Griffin, Thelma Hawthorne Davis and Allie M. Hawthorne Hargrove (Sissy).
